learning a lot more about tennis than i thought i would

Amazing segment about authorship, movies, David Lynch, and an assessment of art that doesn’t care to be considerable. this was written during the production of Lost Highway which is the only Lynch movie i’ve seen, so it was cool walking back from that. Also the first/most coherent definition and exploration of the term “Lynchian” i’ve seen without someone being funny about it

short story on the concept of “the author” and criticism more broadly but what i took away is that i wish i knew more about linguistics and literary theory. also i’m updating after every story/essay which is why these are so sporadic

i really liked his point of view of returning to the midwest after living on the coasts but it also feels a bit inauthentic to say that as if i have any inclination of rural midwest life after living in the suburbs and city my whole life lol

i had read his essay about television (E Unibus Pluram) a few years ago in the reader and remember thinking it was really novel then, and it was really nice to revisit that here and really absorb what he says pertaining television culture especially in the last 20 years (at the time). i would highly recommend anyone read it but his closing thoughts on irony and sincerity in “lower” art like TV still ring true

refreshing to read his nonfiction after some of his big hitting dense fiction

one more story left! i like getting in the groove with these stories

Always a bit surreal reading a fictional story with themes of suicide by an author who does eventually commit it

picking up DFW after not reading him in forever makes me feel the rust scraping off my brain in real time

love reading on my Kindle going purely by percents instead of pages

back on the Pratchett ride

being responsible with my time and reading again (i’m waiting for a big download to finish)

slowly making progress… gotta get back in the swing of reading

feeling like this one has started slower than the other two but it’s starting to pick up some steam

Maybe the deepest and one of the most interesting books i’ve read on gender especially as it relates to right-wing projects to suppress and deny it
