A bit rough to adjust to the prose style, but I am liking the narrative.

Hoping Book III is more like Book I, since Book II was a big tonal shift, and not very interesting.

Tessa's parts are fascinating, but Chris' are just repetitive and distracting.

Character-driven, for sure. But I like the academic-speak too.

Some beautiful writing, in places, but it feels a bit tepid, considering the opening.

Seriously wondering how humans survived this long. Yes, it's really cold right now, but people are reacting as if this has never happened before. We lost power and it was quite chilly (45 degrees indoors! ha!) but power was restored and life goes on. Maybe it's because people are so overdramatic about so many things, but I get tired of the hyperbole surrounding the weather (amongst other things...).

Hmm. Either a well-written set-up or a narrative that will just meander off into the sunset. Cannot tell yet.

Anyone know why a book of short stories, where different editions have different stories included, are listed on GR as the same book?
i.e. - Leo Tolstoy: The Death of Ivan Ilyich and Other Stories. Oxford and Penguin Classics editions have totally different Table of Contents after titular tale.

Could do without the constant use of the representative word "er". It's, er, silly.

Jim is on page 113 of 200 of Inferior: How Science Got Women Wrong—and the New Research That's Rewriting the Story
Seems if we just treated everyone with dignity, repsect, and concern, differences and similarities and whatever else would be just data points, not reason for oppression and hate. Yeah, I know how obvious that sounds. Sorry.
Maybe it is this easy: if White Males hadn't fucked up just about everything the world and its inhabitants would be much happier.
