This book makes me feel smart enough to know I’m a dim wit who never sought higher education. Yeah, that sounds witty. Anyway…took me an hour to read 8 pages. #newlifegoal #finishthisbook 😵‍💫

I have never read a book written like this. There are two sets of narratives; one will stop mid-sentence and smack in the middle of the page. Do I read it linear, or skip a few pages and continue with narrative 1?! I’m on page 32, I’ve tried both ways, and the story is still coming alive, so whatever works I suppose. Oh, and let’s not mention the constant footnotes. The actual story is getting good. 🙂

I’m about halfway through and unfortunately, very minor plot progression. Scene after scene is hinting, pointing, describing the same underlying theme as the last. It’s like beating a dead horse. Wasted opportunities for well thought up characters. Hoping it picks up…

Logen and his reluctant Northmen have arrived at the battle in Auda.
Frost and Severard were dealt with by Glokta. Ardee and Nicoman are with him, and the set of mercenaries. Longfoot to lead them through the sewers to get into the Agriont.

Gurkish arrived at Auda. They are awaiting support from West’s army. Jezel’s wife still hates him.
Logan is king of the north and doesn’t want it.
Glokta is now entertaining Morovia as his “third” party to get out from under Sult and the bankers. Morovia is demanding proof that Sult has been treasonous to the Union in the dealings of Dogoska.
?(Something is suggesting that Ardee may be his leak.)

Jezel: new wife hates him
Logen: Just went into Ninefingers
West: finally arrives at the northern fortress and sends Poulder’s Calvert to aid the Northmen.
Glokta: Ferro found him and questioned why he is having her followed. He’s trying to figure out what Bayaz motives are.

Jezel king; wants West on closed council. Bayaz suggests he marry; but not Ardee.

Glokta: hired Nicomo Cosca and will be looking into the validity of Jezel being the actual heir to the throne (Sult is irritating Glokta with his demands.)

Northmen have come upon the “shitty” fortress.

Glockta: Lobbying for adult. Inglelstad; using 3 daughters as last threat.

Dogman: with other Northman taking over small port town.

West: with Burr, Poulder and Kroy still mapping out positions for armies to head into the northern territories.

Jezel: Reunited with Ardee; just called upon by Monrovia’s office.

Ferro wants to leave Bayaz’ company.

Linus is taken to the beach by Ms. Chapelwhite. She shows him the raft, and he returns his own message.

Linus observed school.

Since last note, book has stayed with Ninefingers and his crew. They ran into the shanker. Logan and Ferro fell off the cliff and are now trying to make their way back out through the dark tunnels. They’re not sure if the rest of the group is alive.

•Ferro is the only one who can touch the box and she is descendent of demon. She wants to help Bayaz get it so they can destroy Gurkal.

Glockta: Dogoska is being surrounded. He’s prepping Cosca.
Nine fingers group shared past scar stories.
West threw the prince over the cliff.

•West w/ prince into the trees with Dogman.
•Jezel knocked out after first kill.
•Glockta caught councilman and beheaded the ambassador.
