I'm confused that she has lived her whole life in the faire, and her parents were essentially travelers, and she would be a faire brat. Then how has she never spent more than an hour ever at the joust? If she just stays at her stall and works or stays in her trailer, what kind of childhood did she have? Does she resent her life at the faire if she isn't interested in it?

I know it isn't affecting my understanding of the plot, but the love interest was described as looking like both if his gay fathers, and I'm just curious how they are all related or conceiving the child. I think it doesn't matter, but now I'm wondering. Also, his parents are beautiful people, and the poor son is described as basically ugly and uninteresting. What is goin on there?

It's a goofy read. It's essentially medieval sex for dummies. There's some fun tidbits alongside the mostly dark reality of treatment of women and especially young women. 1000 years ago is still fresh salt in the wound.

This has been unsavory to read. No man can resist her sexually, and the state of men in this world is rather bleak. Why is this in print? Why didn't anyone who suggested this to me mention the content?

Is she attracted to her father like as a real aspect of their relationship? Theres only like 300 pages left. If this all going to be resolved or dealt with by the end of the book? plot aside, how do we deal with the assault, manipulation, trauma? am I supposed to like these characters?

The horse has a name! But its a rude name, and not very personal.

Why is the romantic partner's name Archer, and how is everyone in each scene an archer. Why would you do this?

I'm not sure what is going on, but these characters are not likeable. Who am I supposed to root for?

They're compulsive liars, the lies are on lies, and the deals are lies, and the relationships are real? Apple Jacks is not alluring, mysterious; he's giving evil, mysterious.

I feel like the first time I read this book, I digested it so easily, and it made me cry it was such a great story. This time, it's more exhausting because I'm noting pieces I find beautiful, and the reading is slower. I'm more inclined to breaks.

I've been trying to read this book for a year now. I got through the beginning only to struggle to find interest in the story. I know its a retelling if an actual medieval story, so maybe I should just go for the original poem first, and come back for the retelling. I wanted this to work out for me because the description is perfect, but it's taking a long time.
