I picked bell hooks to be my next read and my last read of the 2021 daily reading journey.

Not planned, and not in mind, on the 2nd of February of last year I started reading every day. Next week, is the anniversary, and I will mark a year!

What a year. 365 days of witnessing different shapes of life, through reading.

As someone who has an obsession with writings, poems, and visual arts, I can not believe my eyes that I found a book that gathers all three of them in one.

Kahlil Gibran was a poet, writer, and visual artist. The cover of the book and the drawings inside the book are all his.

Why I did not know about this precious information till now. I love this!

I watch reviews before reading a book, so when I decided to read this one I was pretty excited because I will finally read a book written in Arabic — I thought it is the main edition, but then one of the reviewers mentioned that Kahlil Gibran wrote this one in English not Arabic.

Odors have a power of persuasion stronger than that of words, appearances, emotions, or will. The persuasive power of an odor cannot be fended off, it enters into us like breath into our lungs, it fills us up, imbues us totally. There is no remedy for it.

Never knew that one can smell words. Great start, mesmerizing. It may be a great book!

I opened this book last week for a glimpse and I found myself reading page after page after page.

So I decided to make it my next quick read.

And Virginia Woolf is next. I finally decided to read her words.

But I still need to decide the reading place.

I am too lazy to move today so I still need to figure out if I will do my reading outside (the weather is flawless), or, surrender to the warmth of my bed, or, grab a cup of tea and head to the balcony (which is 2 in 1, between the inside and outside... a win!)

I think I will pick the last option!

I once again lost track of time and missed my dinner time due to reading his book. I feel like I am involved with them.

The discussion between Breuer and Nietzsche is beyond incredible!

To find everything profound - that is an inconvenient trait. It makes one strain one's eyes all the time, and in the end one finds more than one might have wished.

I was hoping to start reading this one outside with the beautiful weather but unfortunately it is almost my bedtime so I am reading it in my bed.

So today’s wind made me take my coffee, Kindle, and my flu outside. Success!

My next read is another thriller by Agatha Christie, I don’t know how I managed all this long without reading thrillers.

I picked this one without knowing anything about the story just because I saw the word “Nile” on it. Look at me being patriotic.

A quick pick but let's see how it will go.

In my last read the main character was in love with The Great Gatsby as much as I am. There was mentioning of it a lot, so I couldn’t resist the reread. The love I have for this story is beyond words

I adore the movie but I don’t know what to expect from the book; it was ages ago since I read this one

I am also reading it on Kindle so I can finally share the notes

I am enjoying this way more than I expected, the writing — the translation, the story, everything captivates my mind, it is very good.

And I picked Japanese literature for December.

I am familiar with Murakami's work for a while and I finally decided to give him a try.

Note 1: what a name.

Note 2: I was supposed to start the book two hours ago but the name made me want to listen to the Beatles and then I found myself listening to 1938474829 other songs. Thanks YouTube.
