Isn’t poetry already spirituality, and spirituality already poetry?

If you see that some aspect of your society is bad, and you want to improve it, there is only one way to do so: you have to improve people. And in order to improve people, you begin with only one thing: you can become better yourself.

Improve your own soul, and be confident that only in so doing can you contribute to the improvement of the larger society of which you are part.

We suffer so much, thinking about what could have happened, but not about what has actually happened.

The longing for light is the longing for consciousness.

I feel as though I am always writing my first draft. As though my life is a series of edits that I never have time to complete.

Often I wonder what it may take for someone’s heart to grow cold and I think perhaps the reason is because their heart was left out in the rain. And so on rainy days I struggle because I still don’t know how to convince you that I will be outside in the storm with an umbrella just big enough to cover your heart.

But the world is exhausted, and the only wealth we have left is love.

Love is too large, too deep ever to be truly understood or measured or limited within the framework of words. I would not write this if I did not believe the attempt to have value, but no matter how valuable, I begin with the certain knowledge that the attempt will be in some ways inadequate.

I define love thus: The will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth

Life is difficult.

This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult—once we truly understand and accept it—then life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters.

I still have time to continue reading and the mental capacity… should I leave it till tomorrow or finish the book today?

There is a Canto that I am still trying to figure out and understand so after I figure it out then I will decide.
