Okay uh I haven’t read in a hot minute, hoping to finish this one during my doctors appt wait.
Also have yellow face and ballad of songbirds and snakes queued so looking forward to those

Hhhh slow going fr, I think I might take a break from like “forcing” myself to read since I’m not really enjoying it rn, maybe just right books wrong mood idk

Also lowering my reading goal and will just adjust as needed 😭 I think that was a major contributor to my brain rot

This is a wonderful read so far, the struggles of a women captured in a manner that is poignant but alien. I adore kawakamis descriptions of the mundane, as I, though not as elegant find myself in a similar train of thought.

That said, I can’t help but feel like reading is a chore, enjoying and distantly recognising it is a good book yet unable to truly immerse myself. Perhaps it is my degraded attention span -

Fellow moots please drop your non fiction book recs! Essays, memoirs etc I need to broaden my reading 😔

I’ve accepted that I don’t be able to read like 5 books in 3 days 💀💀Ah well I almost doubled last years goal
Reading goals for next year:
60-75 Books - Hopefully finish around 10 in Jan and try get 1 done a week
Read more non-fiction (Around 10 books?)
Let go of the idea that I need to have ‘sophisticated’ taste and just embrace my tastes

Tell me why I spoiled myself the ending simply because the suspense killed me 😭

Chugging along 😔 Caved and borrowed the ebook from my local library

Okay I was tentative about the first half but the writing seriously picked up like *wow* there’s some beautiful passages…

I ain’t gonna lie I see the hype and this book is good but I have some thoughts 😔✌️
- I’m not a fan of expressions like ‘her collarbones burned’ girl are you ok 😭
- also I feel like kind of alienated from the character if that makes sense. Like I get it and I like their conflicts but also like my experience cannot even begin to match theirs. Maybe I’m just being dramatic lol
