Consuelo Vanderbilt & the Dollar Princesses, if only you knew how many period dramas you’ve inspired.

Everyone wants to get married but they are not courting who they actually want to get married with. I love period dramas!!

I am enjoying this book! The four protagonists are interesting, with different approaches to a common goal in the era: secure a place in society where they will be cared for and not vulnerable.

I feel that since Cooper doesn’t have a more personal connection to the Astors — save the Vanderbilt v Astor society showdown during the Gilded Age — his point of view and narration is very much of outsider. In the Vanderbilt book, I found myself deeply invested in the family. In this one, I don’t find anything groundbreaking about them.

I removed many books from my Currently Reading shelf to make my reading stack smaller. It started to feel a little disheartening seeing so many books in that shelf and I want reading to feel fun, interesting and fulfilling.

I’m trying to enjoy this book but the romance feels rushed, the jealousy is wack, and some characters feel inconsistent.

It’s making me rethink my type of romance book.
