The main characters in this are really unlikeable so far.

This book, while interesting, tends to anthropomorphize Vikings at times. In this story, they have the same problems as us modern people, complete with nagging wives, drinking problems, cryptozoology, etc. It's goofy in the same way Hercules and Xena Warrior Princess were goofy, by asserting that being hunter gatherers wasn't their dominating priority.
