Okay, almost out of the woods from that unfortunate turn of events, it seems. I hated to see this story derailed by someone else's story, and those people seem to always have to be the main character. Well, this is the story of a man turning into a machine, so glad it's resumed with that.

I would say Serge is the man but that would be an insult to this character.

Halfway through the story and if the author's goal was to deflate my enthusiasm for the unique plot, he succeeded when he introduced transgenders into the plot of a man's metamorphosis into machine. It's the most heavy handed metaphor, not to mention that a guy becoming a machine is more plausible than a guy becoming a chick.
