The 3rd agreement did not hit me the same way as the 2nd but I think that’s a me thing; the most recent is “don’t make assumptions”. In my life the biggest take away was that the biggest assumption we make is that people think, feel, love, hate and judge the same as us which is why we can feel such anxiety when we perform for people; we know how we’d judge us and we assume others judge the same.

The second agreement of “don’t take things personally” struck a cord with me because it is something I struggle with. When we allow others words to bring us down (or even our own inner self) we give power to voices that aren’t our own. Something that really got me was that it also applies to when people build us up - we can’t take that personally either because that largely depends on them and not really us

The first agreement, “be impeccable with your word” makes a lot of sense that we should be kind to ourselves if we ever expect to see kindness from others. The writing in this chapter also improved from the first chapter.

I just finished chapter one, it’s a very easy read - big print, large spacing. The author uses a lot of repetitive language which makes the book slightly frustrating to read but the points are sound enough. Hoping as we continue on to the actual “four agreements” it strengthens.
