Joshua Templeman is my favorite character archetype. Also found in Billy Summers, Logan St. James, and Gabriel Scott.

the book is sooo bad! she’s all over the place and making very little sense and stupid decisions and the writing is bad and the narration is bad. i can’t believe it got published. let alone popular. i just can’t believe any of it.

the dialogue is bad.
for example, on page 134, Jake is giving her all of this information. it’s interesting and it’s moving the story along and I appreciate it. But then she’s trying to argue with him and he’s actually getting into it with her. Which is unbelievable because a lawyer deals with these people all the time. even if he wanted her back, he wouldn’t need to convince her.

“bad writing is written defensively”
writing someone’s response just so that you can write a defensive response is petty and no one wants to read it.

the narration feels too deep in her thoughts. like she didn’t have enough to say and went with the superficial stuff; the people pleasing, negative and petty stuff. the journey feels disconnected. idk how what they’re doing is relevant to finding her husband. even though it’s a mystery, i should know how she concluded going to Austin would help her in the first place. it feels like i’m on an empty journey.
