Still not fully convinced that the isekai plot (which I had no idea was going to be in here) was necessary

The chapter 1 set up a pretty throughly medieval setting, so the first words of chapter 2 being “Washington D.C.” felt like getting shot.

Not related to the content of the book, but one of the reviews for it complained about Shakespeare that he was “a white Englishman writing about Italians.” It had to mention that he was white, as though if he weren’t he could somehow claim greater kinship with Italy. Italianx….

Listened to bit of the audiobook and I wondered why the narrator sounded so familiar, even when I didn’t recognize the name at all. Turns out I only knew her under a stage name and it’s Ash Ketchum.

I’m still beating this guy with hammers. I feel like I would actually like him more if he wasn’t a pov character.

Every time this dumbass prince calls himself a pirate, I start beating the book with my fists. You are not a pirate. You do not commit piracy. You are—by definition—a privateer. I am joining the war against the sirens on the side of the sirens. I hope she kills this guy.
