Did not realize that it was going to be *this* much of a slow burn. Not even an accidental kiss yet, and we’re almost halfway through book two.

Was a bit slow for a while there (still enjoyed it because I’m a certified enjoyer of boring books in which nothing happens), but it’s definitely picked up since around the halfway mark.

I’ve got to know more about this forbidden, enemies-and-lovers storyline between Uncle Jackson and the fairy lady.

Would not be surprised if this book started out its life as a Howl’s Moving Castle fanfic.

Alright, we’re nearly half way and there hasn’t been any genital mutilation. There was a dismemberment, but everything was getting dismembered and no extra attention was given to the special member in question, so I don’t think it counts. Anne Bishop is branching out for this one.

I just finished a book I actually liked, so I’m now in a good enough mood to do this again. I’ll let y’all know when I get to the first genital mutilation scene. How many chapters do you think it’s going to take? I’m guessing 2.

Would probably be more okay with the chapter that’s just a page of monster growling if I wasn’t on the audiobook and having to listen to a human man try to make that noise.

A scene where one character helps another remove their armor is more like having sex than actual sex.
