Throughout the different case studies in this volume, so far, is perhaps an unexamined notion that the three concepts in the title, Tourism, Culture, and Regeneration are, if managed properly, net positives. I find in reading this that a lot of it is about marketing a fantasy of a city, and like spending too much time in a shopping mall, it is a draining experience.

Midway through, and the book is very slow. I’m realizing one of my problems with it is the design, format, and layout. It’s larger than trade, double-columned like a magazine, and with tiny type. Maybe the first time I’ve wished to be reading an e-copy rather than a paper copy.
