Someone shoot me now, please. My (soon to be ex?) SigO won't stop watching FAUX news being a general PITA. I've locked myself in the bedroom with an audiobook and earplugs to drown out the "festivities" he insists on gloating about. And I'm reconsidering my life choices...

Another writing group member, in regards to fanfic:

Forgot to mention a few pages back, but there was something about a Wolf's Landing fan taking the books and turning them into a comic with the the characters as ponies.

I sweartagawd I recently read a Sterek fic where something similar was mentioned about Teen Wolf, if not in the fic then in the comments. LOL!

(In answer to a question regarding his sexual performance as paired with the other MC in Real-People slash fiction...)

LMAO!!! This is turning out to be my favorite in the whole series so far.

I want to cry at how well these authors get fandoms. They have to be these kinds of fans themselves...for something.

Sending graphic fanfic to the creator of that fandom:

...of course the creator enjoyed it. Several times. One handed. *dies*

OMG I do so love how much this published author is all fanboy nuts over the work of a fanfic writer! MASSIVE ♥♥♥ & props to AV and LAW for going there.

HA!! How much do I love that the GoodReads "ad" right now is 15 of the Greatest Lessons You Learned from a Book and "DON'T TRUST CLOWNS" is the one that shows up for me? (Because, fuck yeah. *shudders* Clowns are EVIL.)

Honest, but one of a million things irritating me in this book. Oh, and quite indicative of life right now with too many people. People suck.

Well, at least the action and scenes of war are more...interesting?
(Pages and pages of tale-telling, followed by a handful of sentences dedicated to dialogue exchange - only to repeat, constantly, in this vein - is not really my favorite writing style.)

Meh. I'm not enjoying this as much as I thought I would. The whole thing is written so that it feels like I'm being told a long, winding historical tale rather than experiencing the story. So much time spent in describing details, revealing exposition and constant internal monologue. This is one reason why I'm not a fan of 1st person POV, but it's the first book in a while to be so much of chore...

Oh, this first 10% has been like slogging through a swamp.

Also, horrific depiction of being tortured to death for sodomy (by violent impalement via rectum on a gradually widening 3-ft tall stone spike). Would have preferred fewer details on that scene (and I skimmed it). Disgusting that someone justified it as the boy "liked it well enough" (he'd been caught in the act) & the villagers (literally) egging it on.

Okay, no. Fuck no.

If I were paying a fortune to stay at this ranch I'd be highly upset at the snide innuendo and outright insults being slung my way like this by the owner and employees. I'd demand a full refund, and I'd leave, stay at a luxury hotel in town (there are a few) and join daily ride excursions with other ranches.

Hell, if I heard this kind of thing directed at someone ELSE, I'd pitch a fit.
