Sort of Stranger Than Fiction: 4 Stars - More like what I've come to expect from JL. I loved the MCs and the investigation concludes in an unexpected and interesting manner. Which I'm thankful for because OMFG I wanted to stab Erin in the eye every time she threw suspicion on Karl simply because of the books he wrote and if he'd been the the perp I'd have had to admit she was right and that would be unacceptable.

Other People's Weddings: 3.6 Stars - I'm not all that impressed with JL's contributions to the Petit Morts series. This is no exception. Also, each of the short stories I have listened to has a distinctly sinister edge; I'll have to read the other ones by JCP to verify. (The 1st one wasn't a mystery/whodunit though.)

Slings and Arrows: 3.6 Stars - This was too formulaic; I expect more if it's going to follow such a generic trope.

In Plain Sight: 4.1 Stars - Damn. I know the story wasn't really about what can happen when people jump to conclusions (like, a gay cop killing himself or running away from life just because he's gay) but man, that ending. Too close for comfort. Also, I'd have liked to be a fly on the wall when all those haters got their comeuppance.

Seriously, how much do I love that Ash calls Darian his GlitterPirate...especially since it's said with such fondness?

So, that escalated quickly. Andrew went from thinking he'd puke if he had to kiss a guy to dreaming about one possible kiss...and then the next thing we know he's making out and teaching a 30-something year old virgin how to kiss another guy? Hmmm...ooookay.

Ooooh. *grimace* Firing the guy that used to be the closeted politicians regular escort? Rather than just lining him up with other clients? I think that's a supremely bad move and might just come back to haunt them all. Seriously, Wasserman is a shit "madam" (or pimp) for not thinking about the possible future repercussions.

I know they're theoretically set in the same 'verse, but this and For Real (also by this author) have a very similar feel to their stories. I'm kinda digging it way more than I thought I would...and this narrator is simply amazing!!!

Heart Trouble: 3.0 Stars - Sweet but...on the whole it didn't feel like an entire short story; it was more like the opening chapter of a longer book. A book with a blurb that wouldn't sound all that interesting without the addition of some kind of drama or struggle or something. Most abrupt Josh-ending of all Josh-endings so far.

Until We Meet Once More: 4.3 Stars - Okay, of all the stories so far THIS ONE needs a full novel treatment. I'd eat that shit up with a spoon and beg for another serving because I so very much wanted more. God, is there anything JL can't write?

In a Dark Wood: 4 Stars - Still scary as hell; sounds kind of like one of the stories you'd tell around a campfire. I liked the realism of Tim's alcoholism and Luke's reactions to & treatment of the problem.

The French Have a Word for It: 3.8 Stars - Sweet but the quick, un-verified, jumping to conclusions reeked of immaturity and besides hot sex why would a self-assured, mature older man want to deal with more of that from a much younger guy trying to assert his independence and still finding himself? This is why May/December romance tropes don't always resonate with me...

In Sunshine or Shadow: 4 Stars - I do so love partners-as-partners cop romance stories. This one wasn't as emotionally heavy as the previous two or else I'd have probably rated it higher given my adoration for the trope.

Limited Engagement: 4.0 Stars - I shouldn't have liked this one as much as I did, what with the real attempted strangulation, the blackmail & the forced outing. But I did. *shrug* Not that I approve of all that mess; it was just written in a way that makes the reader feel the love, lust, anger, jealousy, frustration. Such an emotional read. Only Josh could make me like reading something I didn't actually like.

Perfect Day: 4.4 Stars - A sweet, emotional, nearly perfect little short story. Definitely reading Wyatt & Graham #2

I lived in the Atlanta area for almost 30 years and I don't think I've ever rooted harder for the Falcons than I am right now...
