I'm loving this book. I grew up near Pendle and read Robert Neill's 'Mist Over Pendle' as a teenager. It's fascinating to read about the same characters from an entirely different perspective. Neill's book was written in 1951 and sees Nowell as the hero and the 'witches' as malevolent dangerous women. I remember questioning this and the attitude towards women. I appreciate the more thoughtful and nuanced approach.
