The correlation between racism and business or expansion which brought about laws that continue racist ideals is heartbreaking. The same years that brought about Jim Crow also consigned millions of people in US territories across the world to the same separation, they are subjects of America, not citizens. This continues today in the Philippines and American Samoa. They cannot vote. No voice.
