This book was written by one of my co-workers! I'm blessed to work with such amazing people at my job.
(But the copy machines and computers where I work... not so much of a blessing!)

Yep! This sounds like me on a daily basis!

True happiness is looking up the book you're currently reading on GoodReads and finding out a bunch of people have recently added it based on how much you've been enjoying it! :D

No. He wasn't here, even if the touch of his words teased through my hair behind my ear. It wasn't real.
"I'm not so far away that I can't hear your heart fluttering, little bird."
Not real, not real, not real.

This is getting so intense! What's real and what's just illusion?!

I pulled out three tiny silver balls and tossed them into the air. When he looked questioningly, I winked and turned my face away. The balls exploded, filling the chamber with brilliant light.

I could never pull off a wink that badass! My attempts at winking go more like this...

So many shocking revelations these past couple of chapters! I feel like I should have seen at least one of these twists coming, but I really didn't. I love it when an author can completely amaze me like this! :D

With their short life spans, humans rushed to evolve and learn and create all on their own. In the absence of magic, humans created tek - huge interconnected metal machines with brains.

The amazing things technology can do, it can feel like a kind of magic... and be as hard to wield at times!

"I..." Sota stammered like broken code. "I am s-sorry..."

If you had told me going into this book that a robot drone would have me on the brink of tears, I wouldn't have believed you, but here we are! It's amazing how a talented writer can evoke emotions even through an inanimate object! :'(

So, he wanted to play a game.

That's an interesting thing for you to say, Kesh, considering you clearly do not play well with others! I mean, you have come close to killing your closest ally on more than one occasion! XD

This is getting so intense! This calls for some... DRAMATIC MUSIC!!!

I agree, Amos! The twist at the end of that last chapter was so shocking, it left me saying...

I'd fought hundreds of killers. The marshal moved like them, but in a way that hid what he was capable of. Most killers wore their brutality like a badge, but not him. The image of himself he presented was a mask, hiding the truth inside. We had that in common, at least.

So. Many. SECRETS!

"If you're not here to arrest me, why are you here? What do you want?"
"Call me curious."
I'd call him something, all right.

OUCH! Kesh sure does have a biting wit about her!

In many ways, it was brilliant. Where better to hide than in plain sight?

I'm sure cats would agree, they're the true masters of hiding in plain sight!

I cracked my whip open and looped it around an iron strut above. Hauling myself out from between them, I planted both boots on the wall, kicked out, and freed the whip from the strut, landing on all fours. I sprang forward, away from Crater's men.

My escape attempt would NOT be that graceful!

My first ever buddy read with The Awesomest Brittain, and this will be my first ever reverse harem book as well... I'm glad Brittain will be here to laugh at me support me as I read this! XD

Not meaning to ruin the somber moment, but think how amazing it would be to actually travel through the stars!

That not-so-startling realization that you've only been on Litsy for about 5 seconds and your To-Be-Read shelf there is already as out-of-control as your Goodreads TBR shelf is! XD

I can't get into any detail since it would be a major spoiler, but one of the characters just revealed the craziest plan ever! Seriously, this is one of those "Gee, how could this possibly go horribly wrong" ideas! :o

(And speaking of bad ideas...)

I finally get some time to read and the doorbell rings!


I had to resort to stealth tactics to read in peace!

That face you make when you still have a few more hours to go at work but you really just want to go home and read! D:

I hate it when I make a reference and it flies over someone's head!

The Butcher of Anderson Station doing what he did best, leading his troops against the tactics and strategies he'd helped create back when he was the enemy.

Wow... that's some tragic irony right there!

"We didn't pay for this ship. Feel free to use it up. If I get killed so you can save ammo, I am going to put a reprimand in your permanent file."

I can only hope that if I'm ever in a spaceship battle, I can banter as well as this crew! My attempts at banter usually go more like this...
