The person was literally just murdered, Palona! Maybe a tad too soon! *head desk*

My wonderful friend Branwen and I are starting our buddy read of Oathbringer today! I always get so absorbed in Sanderson's worlds, I suspect I'll have many late nights reading like this guy has watching his shows:

I love Sharp-faced woman, she is fabulous!

As I prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow, I wanted to take a moment to say how thankful I am for all of you! The exact moment when a person realizes Stephen King is writing their life!

Once again the book makes the movie look cartoonish in comparison!

Pro tip: When you run out of room in your bookcases... nightstands, tables, even boxes of comic books make excellent book "shelves"!

Every time Wendy tries to read her book, she gets interrupted. I'm surprised she hasn't resorted to drastic measures to get some reading done...

The shower curtain he had pushed back was now drawn. The metallic rattle, which had sounded to him like a stir of bones in a crypt, had been the curtain rings on the overhead bar. There was something behind the plastic shower curtain. There was something in the tub.

AHHH!! DON'T GO IN THE TUB!!

Lloyd thanked him for saying so.

The fact that Lloyd never actually has any dialogue in King's version of that scene just makes it even creepier! Once again, I'm finding that the book is far different from the movie... and far better, too!

Every time I read a Stephen King book, I come away with a checklist of things I'll never look at the same way. Today's item is mirrors!

It occurred to him that while he was fascinated by the Overlook, he didn't much like it. He wasn't sure it was good for his wife or his son or himself. Maybe that was why he had called Ullman.

Things are getting really weird at the Overlook Hotel!

I took time out from horrifying myself by reading "The Shining" to horrify myself by seeing the new "Halloween" movie! Now that the movie's over, I can get back to reading as soon as me and my buddies are done posing for this picture...

(Uh, guys, you might want to turn around...)

And suddenly he found that he didn't like the Overlook so well anymore, as if it wasn't wasps that had stung him, but the hotel itself.

I went into this a fan of the movie, but already I'm finding the book much scarier! That whole part with the wasps alone is going to give me chills for days!

When you unwittingly stuck your hand in the wasps' nest, you ceased to be a creature of the mind and became a creature of the nerve endings; from college-educated man to wailing ape in five easy seconds.

Many things can cause that reaction

Abruptly he started the car and put it in gear and drove away, trying not to look back. And of course he did, and of course the porch was empty. They had gone back inside. It was as if the Overlook had swallowed them.

It's been a while since a book has scared me as much as this one!

The wind sighed through the trees, and the fallen leaves rattled up the deserted walks. It was a faint and sorrowful sound. There was no way of knowing what else might be out in the night, slinking hungrily through the shadows, scenting the breeze.

Stephen King can even make leaves scary!

Dangling over the white porcelain lip of the bathtub, a hand. Limp. Blood (REDRUM) trickling down one of the fingers.

Looks like I'll have more time to read now since after this book I'LL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN!!! :o

It's October, which means it's time for my Spooktacular Halloween reads! First up is "The Shining". I hope my poor heart can take this, it's supposed to be one of Stephen King's scariest books ever!

"That is the way he has always been. He always calculates things down to the very small worst case scenario."

The lead character has Asperger's Syndrome, and I love how the author is showing that something often perceived as a disability can be a strength as well! Well done, sir! :D
