I've talked before about how reading "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie turned me into a full-fledged bibliophile, as no book had ever made such a profound impact on me before that one. I'm wondering how many of you have had a similar experience.

Is there a specific book that transformed you from someone who likes reading to someone who loves reading? If so, which book was it?

That moment of horrified realization when the supposed rulers of Jah Keved learn who has really been calling the shots all along...

Kaladin rarely gets caught off-guard, which is really cool, but also really sad since it's because he's so used to betrayal...

Major, major "HOLY $#!T" moment in Chapter 52! Once again Sanderson has completely humbled me by making me think I had something all figured out, only to find out I was completely wrong!

"Stop it! That kind of talk is disrespectful," Balat said. "Love...is like a classic melody..."
Shallan grinned. "Because if you end your performance too quickly, your audience is disappointed?"
"SHALLAN!!!"

I'm happy to announce that my father's first chemotherapy treatment went VERY well! We are home now, and the only adverse effects he's felt so far is some grogginess.

Thank you all for your kindness and support, it means the world to us. I'm so grateful to have amazing friends like you! :D

In the category of "YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME", we got to the hospital only to be told that one of the drugs for my father's chemo didn't arrive in time, so his chemotherapy has been rescheduled for tomorrow! >:(

I wanted to thank everyone for the support I got this morning! You people are the best! :) I'll post a follow-up on the weekend to let you all know how it went!

My father starts his chemotherapy today. Any positive energy, prayers, healing wishes you could send him would be greatly appreciated. This one's for you, Dad!

What Shallan did at the end of Part 2 was so shocking, I was like...

I even showed it to a friend, and now she is like...

Kaladin recognized the figure. The Assassin in White.
"I won't let you have him!" Dalinar bellowed. "Not Elhokar!"
The assassin stopped in front of Dalinar. "But I'm not here for him," he whispered. "I'm here for you..."

IT'S ON!!! I need to pop lots of corn for this one!

It's interesting how the formerly-sheltered Shallan is learning so much about the world around her while she's being groomed as a con artist. Knowledge truly is power, especially when it's being used to cheat...

Really, Sanderson? You name the chapter "Assassin", making me think I'm about to see the long-awaited Kaladin-Szeth fight, only to have it be something completely different?!? Y'know, I like being teased about as much as this cat does...

I love how minor characters from book one keep reappearing in surprising ways. Certainly never thought that person would risk his life to help someone after he was such a scumbag in the first book! Great job at shattering expectations, Mr. Sanderson!

BLUTH- "You think I'm as dumb as that stick."

Heh, heh, Thude's theory is sound, food can take precedence over everything else at times!

My father's prognosis is actually very good, as the doctor told us that the chemotherapy has a 95% cure rate with this particular form of cancer.

Still, due to his age, there are concerns as to how well he'll be able to tolerate the chemotherapy.

He'll be starting his chemo in a couple of weeks. Any prayers and/or positive energy would be greatly appreciated at this scary time!

There is some personal news that I wanted to share with my GR friends, since many of you have become like family to me. Last week, my father was diagnosed with a form of non-Hodgkins lymphomic cancer. :(

Syl found the concept amusing. "Nature doesn't have laws, Kaladin!"
"If I toss something up, it comes back down. It's a law."
Syl leaned in conspiratorially. "No, that's more like an agreement among friends. We have to be consistent, or we'll break your brains!"

Chapter 7...NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why, Sanderson?!? Why do you keep doing this to me?!?

Since Shallan is one of my favorite characters, I'm a little concerned about her being betrothed to Adolin, considering what a player he was in the last book...

Pure Sanderson...a complex pattern of lines has just sprung to life from the pages it was sketched on and has now turned into an endearing character. The fact that the pattern is incredibly clumsy and keeps bumping into things just makes it even more fascinating to watch!
