So far my favorite sequence has been when Rachel infiltrated the building by turning herself into a mouse. It takes a special kind of witch to be able to retain all her snark while in mouse form!

Jenks was humming "Strangers in the Night", now it would be running in my head the rest of the day.

There are worse songs to have stuck in your head...

Without warning, Ivy's voice came from right behind me.

"IVY!" I screamed, spinning around to see her standing still and quiet. "DON'T DO THAT!" Creepy vamp, I thought. I ought to put a bell on her.

Yeah, that would probably make me jump, too!

"I've been trying to get rid of you for two years. But when I finally get you to leave, you take my best runner with you." His eyes grew intense. "Not good. When you hit the street, you're fair game."

"You can't..." I stammered.

"Someone's going to die for this," he whispered.

The leprechaun slowly came to grips that she was caught, sending her eyes over the yellow moon, green clover, pink heart, and orange star that decorated my cuffs. "Aw, who squealed about the charms?" she slumped.

Wait, so the leprechaun's weakness is Lucky Charms?!?

Having heard many good things about this urban-fantasy series, I decided it was time to experience the magic for myself! Hopefully it's much more impressive than this guy's magic...

Burton and Swinburne are ready to take back London... the final battle looks to be epic...and it's right then that my need for sleep had to kick in!

This was me last night saying, "Only two more chapters...c'mon, Dave, you can do it...you can do it...no you can't... ZZZZZZZZZ"

Once again I got totally freaked out while reading this book... this time it was after learning Spring Heeled Jack's true motivation behind the attacks! :o

After reading the disturbing revelation in Chapter 17, this was pretty much me...

"I'm unarmed. That's not very gentlemanly."

"There are many who claim I an not a gentleman," noted Burton. "They call me Ruffian Dick. At this particular moment, it's a title I intend to live down to."

That was right out of a Clint Eastwood western, Mr. Burton!

"The man stared at Burton. "My goodness, did you fall?"
"Yes he did," interposed Swinburne. "Down the stairs, in a brothel! They were throwing him out. Said his tastes were too exotic!"

I'm really starting to love this Swinburne guy!

Last Friday I got admitted to the hospital for atrial fibrillation. Yesterday, they did a procedure that has gotten my heart rate back under control. I finally got home last night. The worst part about being in the hospital...no access to GoodReads! I missed you all so much!

"Four times a day, this house cat will walk every inch of your floors, picking up dust and dirt. Broomcats keep your floors spotless!"

Okay, alternate histories and time-travel are one thing, but obedient cats?!? NOW you've pushed my suspension of disbelief too far!

Can't go into detail since it's too spoilerish, suffice it to say the chilling and unsettling thing Spring Heeled Jack was quoted as saying at the end of Chapter Three left me more than a little freaked out...

"The Technologist caste seemed unstoppable, despite protests from the Libertines who were producing reams of anti-technology propaganda."

Chill out, Libertines! What possible pitfalls could there be to relying on technology?

Oh...riiiiiiiiiight...

Time to get my steampunk on again...The Incredible Irena would be so proud of me! :D

"Insane!" one of the parrot's heads shrieked.
"Agony!" the other head shrieked back.
"WILL YOU SHUT UP AND LET ME THINK?" Flagg howled.

I can't blame Flagg for getting pissed off with his two-headed parrot...one-headed parrots are annoying enough!

"I know who you mean. Best not to speak his name out loud."
He had only thought the magician's name when, miles away, Flagg was jolted out of his sleep.
"Who speaks the name of Flagg?" he whispered.

Flagg was known as "you-know-who" before You-Know-Who made it mainstream!

"This ancient, yellowed parchment spoke of Flagg by name. Spoke his name, cried it, shrieked it. Flagg had done it all before, but he did it over four centuries ago! Flagg the man was, in reality, Flagg the monster, loose again!"

As M. Night Shyamalan would say...

"Again, Flagg had to raise a hand to his mouth to cover a small smile. 'And that, my little doomed Lord, is the only command you will give as King,' he thought. How neatly the jaws of Flagg's cruel trap had closed around the Prince...

That one girl is so painfully shy, I feel bad for her. Of course, if Scooby Doo taught us anything, it's that the nicest suspect will be guilty! Well, that, and crooks would rather spend months trying to scare people away from the treasure instead of just taking the treasure and running!

So many questions, so many suspects...and I LOVE it! :D

Today may be my birthday, but I had already received my most meaningful present...having amazing book buddies like you all in my life has been the greatest gift of all! :)

My good friend Veronica made this book sound so gripping, I had to give it a try! Excited to get this started!

Just when I thought the climax couldn't get any more thrilling, The Assassin in White has returned for Round 2!!!

I'm so excited, I'm jumping up and down like this dog right now! (And since I'm reading this in public, I'm also getting lots of weird looks too...)

Many of my GR friends have recently started enjoying the Harry Dresden books, the series which was my very first foray into the world of urban-fantasy!

This makes me very happy! :D
