Stayed up late as I couldn't put this one down last night. The number of stars I give a book is directly proportional to the number of bags I get under my eyes while reading it!

One thing I really appreciate about this book is that I'm able to follow everything that's going on. Usually when I read cyberpunk, I wind up looking like this guy...

I must confess, that twist at the end of Part One got me totally by surprise. Well played, book! That is not what I was expecting at all...

Reporters had more firepower at their camcording nail tips than the police, and the only one they answered to was the network. If the media wanted him dead, he was fried.

That's what passes for wit in this book... I'm trying really hard not to DNF you, book. You're not making it easy!

The more we learn about Big Mike in the flashback sequences, the more I find myself hoping his murderer gets away with it! Big Mike was a bigger selfish jerk than Jerk Dog! (And not nearly as smart as Jerk Dog either...)

You lied to me, book!

Very mixed feelings about this book so far. The mystery and paranormal elements are intriguing, but I'm finding the lead characters to be rather boring. Quite frankly, Lance and Detective Salmon are putting me to sleep!

After the cop grumbled how real police work isn't nearly as exciting as on TV, I said "The only cliche missing is the narrator describing himself in a mirror." Then I get to chapter 13 where, yes, Lance describes himself in the mirror! RUN, LANCE! RUN FROM THE MIRROR CLICHE!

"Go back to your camp, put together a squad of the very best you've got, then come back here. Because when my gals and I hand you your asses again, I want you to know it could not have possibly gone any other way!"

I...I think I have a new favorite super-hero! Sorry, Batman!

Lance keeps having conversations with his dead wife. So either he really can communicate with her ghost, or he's just crazier than Nicolas Cage. Actually, it must be the first possibility, that second one is just too unrealistic!

A paranormal series that's also a mystery series? Yes, please!

Darn it, just as Rachel was about to get into an epic witch battle, my need for sleep took over. I would have tried to keep reading, expect if I had, this would have been me at work today...

Writing in the first person view while the narrator is in a deranged state is tricky, but the author pulled it off brilliantly. I haven't seen such an effective portrayal of a person in a maniacal state of mind since...well, just about any movie starring Jack Nicholson!

Nick shrugged. "I tried holy water to get the vamps to back off. It didn't stop them, but the bad case of B.O. it gave me worked almost as well."

I'm starting to like Nick. I hope he doesn't turn out to be an evil traitor, or worse yet, a douchecanoe of Donald Trump proportions!

"He's a geek," Ivy mouthed, and my face froze. A geek had saved my life?

Teaming up with a geek isn't so bad, Rachel. For one thing, we can entertain you by making nerdy references out of just about anything...

Hmmm... so Rachel's master plan is to turn herself into a mink and sneak into the heavily guarded office of a powerful politician (who may also be a ruthless crime boss) with only an injured pixy as her back-up. Seems like a classic "What could possibly go wrong" moment in the making!
