There's a bunch of pseudoscientific racist nonsense in here but there is the occasional gem:
"Institutions are products of the past process, are adapted to past circumstances, and are therefore never in full accord with the requirements of the present.... These institutions which have thus been handed down, these habits of thought... are therefore themselves a conservative factor."

Finished the book proper. There's an appendix, though, that I'll go ahead and read; apparently it's an originally-planned part 7 to vol 1, "Results of the Immediate Process of Production"
