I’m struggling to enjoy this book. Butterfield has already spent a good deal of the first 36 pages reinforcing incorrect information about mental illness being a large part of indicators for future crimes. He’s also weaving in opinions wildly as factual along with the story of the Bogle family. He further perpetuates a “freak” narrative by painting Louis and Elvis’s employment with the carnival as degenerate.
