OK this is going to sound like a geek saying this but this has become quite a page turner for me. No spoilers but if you read the book you will see what I'm talking about. Very engaging story of a discovery and its impact on the scientific community. Great personal views of life as an astronomer & his family.

Clearly written while explaining the demise of many folks favorite planet, Pluto. As an amateur astronomer I understand how Pluto was demoted, probably rightly so as a planet.

Learning a lot about process here, which is fantastic because I've not really read much about process in astronomy. How found objects are named, for example, or how telescopes are operated remotely or on what basis is a request for use approved or rejected. Its not that this is what the book is about, mind you, but it's insights I havent received elsewhere that makes it notable.

Well the oldest God was called Uranus, hence the name of the 7th planet, and the name of the most infamous substance on earth, Uranium which was named for the planet!!! Selenium, Palladium, Neptunium and Plutonium!!!! Seriously guys, have chemistry abolished the imagination of the chemists!!! But a fun fact though, he uses a lot of them in order not to get the reader bored.

The book is really magnificently edited and written. The ideas are flowing with no hard time understanding what is written. The best think I learned so far is the reason of the week days naming, sun moon tu-mars- godofwar woden-mercury Thor-Jupiter freye-venus and Saturn.
