"on his deathbed" — very intense and brilliant through and through

"Tri-Stan" was a work of brilliance for sure, one that was a little bit vexing to read at times, but in a necessary way I feel. even when I get a little annoyed with Wallace, I can't stay that way for too long, because he just keeps dazzling me. I haven't yet encountered another writer that really makes my head spin like this. sometimes Cortázar, but in a different way.

I really liked adult world, both parts, although it was quite painful to read at times. The decision to leave part 2 in a "schema" format is one that many will find distasteful, but that I found very compelling. "the devil is a busy man" was less interesting to me, it seemed to just retread old Wallace territory and felt a bit half-baked.

everything in this collection was so good until "datum centurio"... and now i'm remembering the parts of infinite jest that were genuinely annoying. this is far worse than any of those though. oy vey

some of these interviews man... they're so intense. and these guys, like, sometimes I actually start to sympathize with them for a moment until they start burrowing their heads so far up their own ass that it's painful to read.... hideous indeed
