I won't say I think about this series much after I finish a book, but it's just a wholesome lil series that makes me happy when I read it and that's good enough for me. ☺️

I feel so bad for Ruby! How horrible to watch your mother die in front of you!

The book is focusing on one event. If I get to 50% and still bored with this book, I’ll skip to The One and Only Family, the next book (and last) in the series. Yes, it’s so bad I might skip the book in the series.

Ruby doesn’t want to grow up! She still has unresolved feelings toward Stella at the mall.

read the first two books in this series last year and they helped me really get out of my huge reading slump so i am excited to continue this series!!

A very sad part is when Ruby's brother criticized her based on the way she ate, even though she is a baby and is still learning. "I heard my brother laugh. Later he told me I was as messy as a warthog when I ate" (108). This was very sad, because further in the book, every time she ate, she thought about what he said and it makes her feel insecure.

A sad scene is when Ruby's aunt calls her the wrong name and she has to pretend like everything is okay. "Get some sleep, sweet Tusky, she calls. 'Whoops! I mean---"(39). "That's all right, Aunt Laheli, I say and I force a smile to show her I'm not mad"(39). This shows that Ruby was hurt by her own aunt forgetting her name because she forced a smile, trying to pretend she's not hurt about it.

A very sad part is when Ruby, the elephant, says that nobody ever listens to her because she is younger and smaller. "My big little problem, nobody ever listens to the littlest elephant. And around here that littlest elephant is me" (26). This made me feel empathy for Ruby because sometimes, even though my idea is better and more correct than the older people, nobody listens because I am younger and smaller.
