I understand that this is a 'feel good' book and lots of characters will have development and 'growth' but fuck sake Aleisha is a bitch

I had a suspicious feeling from the offset, but was hoping I was wrong, and now I am so pissed off that I was right. This was supposed to be a semi-cozy read. It had its moments until it didn’t. NOT COZY. FUCK ME.

Both of their situations are so sad and complicated in their own way 🥺
Reading Mukesh's chapter is honestly so heartbreaking. I really makes you stop and think — how often do we take the time to understand what's going on in our grandparents' heads and hearts. His loneliness and longing feel so real 😭

So far interesting story, just feels likes it’s moving slowly. I still have high hopes, while continue to listen to the audio.

Are these characters supposed to show how incredibly boring non-readers are or just very mediocre writing?

Lights Out made me need a feel good book. So far, I love this book and if the old man dies, I'm going to be emotionally destroyed for the rest of my life.

my favorite this year. Earlier this year, I was told that my resume shows i’m a story teller. My interviewer asked me to provide her with my 10 favorite books. That list itself, similar to the list in the book tells a story. When we read we get to step into spend else’s circumstances. What we get from the same book will differ, and that’s what makes books so special.

“Plus, Dada, Ba always told me that sometimes when you really like a book, you need to read it again! To relive what you loved and find out what you missed before. Books always change as the person who reads them changes too. That’s what Ba said.”

“But if in one moment, minutes, days, weeks, or months from now, it might prove a comfort, an escape—just like it had for him—it would be worth it.”

“The list wasn’t just a distraction for her anymore. She’d learned how to fight for something you believe in from Atticus Finch; she’d learned how to survive with a tiger like Pi; she’d learned never to stay in a creepy house in Cornwall, maybe just go to a B& B or something instead; and from Amir in The Kite Runner she’d discovered it was never too late to do the right thing.”

Whenever the story gets a little exciting, the author cuts it off as if to say, "Woah, sorry about that! Lemme change perspectives to calm things down again." Very mindful. Very demure.
