From the author’s note to “Peeking Through Miniblinds”, I have been captivated, heartbroken, and enraged by Pelayo’s prose.

Only read two poems in this collection so far and I’m already entranced.

I don't see why all the hype over it, seems a bit too exploitative and the poems not about people but about the subject itself were way better.

Man, this is so beautiful but the reality behind this is heartbreaking.

Hard to read and pay attention to without just skimming since I’m not a fan of the style of poetry. Will probably end up being on my dnf list or maybe it will just take me a while to get through in between other books.

this book is deeply disturbing and wonderfully written thus far, but I physically cannot bring myself to read any more true crime right now. my anxiety is high and a weird scuttley bug just ran across the floor and my poor sweet kitten launched himself at it and chaos ensued. my heart rate is high enough for one day. but seriously, read this book! I can't wait to finish

i've only read good things about this but the writing is.. not great and i still can't wrap my head around writing poetry about missing and murdered women. very strange.

It so happens I'm reading this on MMIW day, and it's sad beyond words. I hope some of these cases are solved. The poetry makes it so much sadder. What an evocative piece of literature.
