"...and, continuing to occupy our chambers in the Faubourg Saint Germain, we gave the Future to the winds, and slumbered tranquilly in the Present, weaving the dull world around us into dreams."

Poe may be a master of supernatural/gothic but I'm actually bored to the point of tears with Dupin. Jeez. I should be reading this at night to put me to sleep.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read.

Good overall, but too many philosophical discussions. I'm glad that the detective novel has evolved since Poe's time.

For residency. Poe's rarely seen detective stories, arguably the ones that helped to create the genre.

Ayaayayayayayaya.... The hardest part reading this book is because it's in Bahasa Indonesia. I seriously want to scratch the interpreter of this book -_-

On to "The Purloined Letter"! "That is another of your odd notions," said the Prefect, who had a fashion of calling every thing "odd" that was beyond his comprehension, and thus lived amid an absolute legion of "oddities."

Moving on from "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" to "The Mystery of Marie Rogêt." It's great fun to visit C. Auguste Dupin again. Ratiocination FTW!

I am underwhelmed by the first two stories. The second one especially was booooooring and went nowhere. Here's to hoping for a winning third story!
