There were sequences where I was about to cry just by reading the descriptions of the places he had to sleep over. Hideous, disgusting places with tight beds and dirty sheets. It truly made me feel depressed that that is the really nowadays. Many people are starving out there and there s no one to offer them a job or a meal. Sometimes I don’t understand humanity

I enjoy this book a lot! I love Orwell’s writing and the topics he addresses. It’s mostly a biographical book and talks about George’s life in France. He and a Russian friend of his deal with poverty and they way they struggle to find a job in order to survive

Enjoying this very much. I did not know what a keen observer of life Orwell was, or how funny he could be. The narrator does wonderful accents.

Ah, too real even for the present times. I am glad our hero found a regular job and can afford food.

I'm surprised how funny this book is. I certainly wasn't expecting that as his works of fiction are quite dark.
