It feels that the books doesn’t fit to me. I like the idea of writing in own words for a deeper understanding but I don’t want to become a writer. So does it make any sense to put all the effort in this system?

If we want to give some heading to the topic so we can add it to the index it is really necessary to consider it's usability and how often can you come that topic again or use that keyword in this way we can connect the topic and also even if we have forget about the topic we will go back to topic again , as a by product of the interconnection that we have made btw them.

It is an interesting book but way too long. It seems that the authors tries to use the technique mentioned in this book. This book could be shorten to 50 pages.
Moreover, there are just stories and reasons to use the technique but just a few practical examples how to use it (especially with tools like Obsidian).

Cognitive inhibition, inhibition is cognition refer to the ability of brain to supress the irrelevent info, thought, or action. But how can we tell which info is imp that can be done by connecting the info in a meaningful way so it can become a unremovable piece of chuck of info and in this way you will reterive that info more and more and made it a long term memory and connect this new info to old one.

Our brain is the machine for jumping to conclusion. As Kahneman writes.
And to get to the write conclusion we need the right and irrational facts, info and understanding of it and that cannot be done only by brain. We need to think external. Writing is one of the best way to do that think because we only need to focus on thinking rather than remembering all the things. In this way we jump to conclusion.

Retrieving info from our brain make the info more remember in long run. Even when we fail to retrieve it our mind make the note of it and when next time we want to retrieve that info we are more likely to retrieve that info more easily than last time. Recall the info if get wrong understand it again and again try to recall it. That's what we call the active recall technique.

Nonage [immaturity] is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. {KANT 1784 }

The conformation bias is one of the biases which is one of the hurdle of the rational thinking, as we know in conformation bias we only look to the facts and info. which supports our view point but this is not something good way of learning. So to overcome this bias their are 2 steps which are take the notes that supports your way of thinking than go for the facts that argue the way you think.

Longhand writing is more effective for understanding than typing on laptop or other device because while we are using this electronics devices our writing speed is so much high but when we are hearing something or reading it is easy to write down all the fact but when we are using longhand writing normally this is not possible so we try write what we understand rather than just only doing the verbatim.

We don't have to fill up our short term memory with the unfinished task because our mind always think of it and occupied the short-term memory that is what we call ZEIGARNIK'S effect.
But we can overcome from it by just only writing down it somewhere because it convince to our brain that it will be taken care of. The brain does't distinguish btw the actual work done and the posted one.

Interesting to think about thought and research in this way. Simple but proven effective.

Usually we from attention, we only think about focused attention which is sometimes required will power to sustain that focus for long period of time .But their is also one more way of attention (focus) which is "flow" introduced by the Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in which becoming highly focus is effortless.

The loop of feedback makes us to stay motivated and just only by adding yet in which you are not good make it a growth mindset. e.g. I am not good in maths yet. which is showing the present status of us but not the future.
