Maybe I will get back to this someday - it would be a bit more interesting to me if it read as more narrative style. Just fact after fact.

A very well written and concise story. I highly recommend this work to everyone interested in WWII Resistance history.

'As she had done with her men in the Cosne area, Virginia trained explosives crews and sent them on missions almost every night between July 27 and August 12. She had never been formally trained for sabotage, and quite frankly couldn't imagine the need. Planning and organizing these operations was simply a question of using common sense.' I love her so much.

'They [Parisians] especially avoided eye contact with the Germans, who had begun calling Paris 'la ville sans regard' (the city that never looks at you).'

The Germans had at least 10 types of identity cards for each individual's required for: food ration, military papers, clothing ration, driver's license, census, tobacco ration, birth certificate, medical certificate, work permit, and proof of residence. That is so much paperwork!
