I babysat my 18 month old niece this past weekend and on top of being broken physically (babies are a young person’s game, man), the thing I missed most desperately was having the energy to read

I love weird and off-putting little dudes

As a mystery, this is quite decent. I still have no idea who the murderers are. Or the motive. I am befuddled lol

I like the story but I do think my enjoyment of this book is partially hindered by the audiobook narration.

J'arrête là ce livre, ce n'est carrément pas pour moi. Mais en soit, je reconnais que c'est bien écrit. Je ne pense pas me débarrasser du livre car je réessayerais de le lire plus tard je pense.

Finished. Never really read historical fiction before this book. I enjoyed the book tons more than I thought it I would. The book was well written, and gave you a clear picture of what the East End of London and around the River Thames at that end was like back in the 1720s. The characterd in the book are partly based on true people
The book is well written. Rattling good story . First of trilogy. Yes I recommend!

Agh, men that wink. As someone else has said this is a woman writing what she thinks a man would act like. I can't see a 'gentleman' even one as 'rogueish' as Hawkins would wink. I really want to like this book, so I'll keep at it
