I love the idea of the bright-line habit to be “vegetarian before dinner”. Might even go further and say “vegan before dinner, vegetarian after.” That’s definitely a goal for me!

By not buying snacks and fast food out, I’m making myself healthier. As a byproduct I’m also saving money that I can put in my savings account or use towards school fees.

I think I’m a serial goal setter because I need something to work towards in order to continue with my habits.

I like Gretchen Rubin's book a lot more when I pace them. I'm not overwhelmed by all the changes she makes, and I'm able to absorb more of it. I'm really liking this book.

Upholders, Questioners, Obligers, and Rebels, all must grapple with the consequences of fitting in that Tendency. I get up at 6:00 every morning, and I pay for that; I get more work done, but I also have to go to sleep early.
We all miss pay, but we can choose that for which we pay.

I think I’m a moderator - I can skip eating chips and McDonalds for a few weeks but only if I know I can have it on an upcoming cheat day.

I, too, want to meditate but struggle to fit it in so I like this prompt of doing it after breakfast instead of at 8:15, for example.

I think I’m a lark, a procrastinator, an overbuyer, a simplicity lover, an opener, and a novelty lover who is promotion-focused and likes to take big steps.

I think I’m either a questioner or an obliger but I’m not sure which?

So far, this book has done wonders for my journaling. I don't know yet whether the following chapters will trigger as much writing. We'll see. I'm not in a hurry.

Spent a long time on these past pages because this book makes me think so many thoughts that I want tp write down, so I've been making very slow progress on the reading, but all the more on reflection and writing, which is great.

It has helped to understand a bit more clearly who am I. My own tendencies and particular aspects of myself which can contribute towards a shift from bad habits to good ones.

This book is all about structuring ones life according to ones natural tendencies and utilizing self monitoring to as a means to achieve goals. It’s absolutely influencing how I get stuff done as a single parent of two and making the house we bought into a home.

I've spent the majority of the day reading which is something I haven't done in a long time. I'm struggling with the book because honestly Gretchen is so damn unlikable, but the information is really interesting. Oh I wear yoga pants, oh i strong arm my friends & family into following my way of thinking regardless of their feelings even though i just explained 4 tendencies, i'm so great blah blah blah.

So far I've determined I'm an obliger. Also Gretchen mentions wearing yoga pants entirely too much for my liking. I get it, you wear yoga pants every day.

The "one-coin" section is the best insight in the book. Erasmus' argument of the growing heap says that each individual coin (workout/healthy meal/evening spent working) is insignificant, but at some point each individual coin becomes a whole heap of coins. The heap wouldn't exist without each individual insignificant coin.
