I’m enjoying this for the most part but you can definitely tell that she is an upholder and her partner’s a questioner. Every chapter she says this will work for upholders and questioners, might work for obligers if they tweak it, and Rebels once again you’re own your own. Only once has she given a strategy that works best for rebels, and even that was flavored with distaste and judgement.

Rubin‘s ideas are very motivating. It seems she did a lot of research beforehand and methodically arranged her ideas prior to writing. I do like that.

Picking up Gretchen Rubin‘s book again. Skimmed through the first chapter again in which Rubin proposes a concept of four character types: obligers, rebels, questioners and upholders.

There are multiple strategies that work together in forming habits. If something is convenient people are more likely to do. Make the routine of your habit convenient so that increases the likelihood that you will complete it.

I love Gretchen Rubin but she really needs to stop pushing her low-carb diet on people, especially people who eat plant-based!

So much food and diet talk in this book, I'm surprised she didn't just write a diet book all together

Is it bad to give up half way through a book on self control and habit change? She just instructed me not to eat carbs.

I've just finished reading A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. Much to my surprise and delight I found a direct and thought provoking connection to it on page 122 in the form of a quote from Michel de Montaigne, Of the Education of Children: "The conduct of our lives is the true reflection of our thoughts." Strangely, now that I think about it, habits and change are at the core of each book. An unplanned pleasure!
