Already really interesting, but I don't know what my tendency is! And it's driving me crazy! I see myself in Upholder, Questioner and Obliger. I tried going onto her website and did the quiz - but never got the results emailed to me. Then I did it again - but no results :( Hopefully tech support gets back to me soon...

Ok. Nice insight and good research into Habits and Human Psychology in regards to that and moral licensing.. Both this and the Happiness Project have inspired me to monitor some of my bad habits and introduce good ones. I figured why not prove to myself that I don't need a new year to start and start today, December 1st 2017. I have my chart which I have already filled and printed out. Wish me luck

Fascinating so far! It’s explaining so many traits that I’ve noticed in myself and others.

So far I’ve learned that I’m a questioner, sprinter, under-buyer, simplicity lover, opener, familiarity lover, prevention-focused, prefer taking small steps, and am a private resolver... I’m really enjoying the way Gretchen Rubin explains how understanding these things about myself, can help reenforce habits in my life to help me be more productive and whole.

Clean slate! Time to return to the library because someone else wants it. I think I need to just buy it now, to both finish and for referential purposes.

I love this book. I like doing things that not everyone likes. This book reminds me that everyone is unique and in order to be happy, one needs to recognize these things about themselves and work with it.

I think I'm going to buy this book, re-read it and highlight and underline throughout. This is good stuff.

This is REALLY interesting. I like learning things about myself yet I find it hard to answer questions like she's asking. But, for the sake of knowing myself better, I'm going to try and answer them.
My Tendency: Obliger (I would say I have a slight bend toward Upholder, at least for some things some of the time.)

This literally could have been a blog entry. Picking her 1-2 sentences of (fairly useful) advice in between 1%-er, privileged, and condescending anecdotes is tedious. Not giving up just yet because, those few sentences each section are actually really useful ways for thinking about habits / motivation.

I've been reading bits of this one for quite some time, but at the beginning of June I decided to get serious about reading it all the way through - and (hopefully) changing my habits. I'm learning a lot!

Q: Isn't all this focus on small habits a bit petty? What about the Big Questions of Life? A: Mastering your habits leaves you freer to explore those issues, knowing your everyday life is solid.

Rubin & I share too many "loves" for me to be objective about her books at this point: her favorite treats are going to the library and sleep. She's also a staunch defender of coffee. Yes!!

*Now* is an unpopular time to take a first step. Won't things be easier--for some not-quite-specified reason--in the future? This is termed "tomorrow logic"

Best "eccentric accountability device": Victor Hugo ordered his servant to take away his clothing for the day. Left naked in his study, with only paper and pen, Hugo had nothing to do but write.

Broken windows=things in your environment that bug or distract you, such as sink full of dirty dishes or piles of newspaper. Not *every* person is bothered by clutter, but many are.

As much as I like to read about new information this book has been a bit tough for me to get into. Not sure why either.
