At first I was dubious about the astrological connection; but, one third of the way in, I am impressed by the intersection of the personal, the historic moment, and the planetary alignment. Tarnas has an encyclopedic grasp of world literature, scientific discoveries, and the revolutionary movements. I am very impressed.

I was at first dubious about the cosmic connection, but a third of the way in, I see the beauty of his psychobiographical, historical moment, and the planetary influences on individuals as regular periods throughout history. It's a quite fascinating how he connects all the dots in his great cosmic scheme with the best minds of each generation. Well done!

'Since the encompassing cosmological context in which all human activity takes place has eliminated any enduring ground of transcendent values the resulting vacuum has empowered the reductive values of the market and the mass media to colonize the collective human imagination and drain it of all depth.

Tough read. Tarnas is actually too exacting in his language when he could get his points across much more efficiently.
