It’s funny because this book doesn’t belong to me, I just pick it up whenever I’m feeding my baby at a friend’s house. Hence why it’s sporadically read.

Did not like the chapter on “well eating” went a little off topic IMO and pulled in stuff about communion and the dinner table, and pesticides and the law… 🤔 I’m not offended, but I didn’t find it helpful or completely on target 😂

Sacrifice so others can see, or for your own convenience and comfort is not serving the Lord gladly.

This is a re-read, I’m bringing my highlighter this time! Fantastic read for mothers.

It’s already convicting and I don’t even have any littles running around yet. I can already see the sinful tendencies and patterns in my heart as Rachel describes motherhood. But it’s also encouraging to begin ‘working to bear fruit now that will bear the seeds of a lot of future fruit.’ Lord willing.

Beautiful book. Encourages me to use law and grace in tension to build up children with joy and love

chapter 10 talks about how we view the type of food we feed our kids.. Totally addresses "mom guilt" about what kinds of foods we are serving.. Etc.

We can always obey, and God always provides the grace. The fundamentals are always right in front of us, and they are always the same. Love God, hate sin.

Cheerfully embracing the mundane work in your life, diving into the challenges, working harder than you would think possible at the little, at the trivial, at the boring-- these are all ways to say, 'Use me Lord; I am your servant.'

The love of Christ is not the reason that we don't have to do things. It is the reason we get to do things freely....We imitate Christ, and we make sacrifices for others. We do things that are hard, that cost us much, BECAUSE we want our gifts to be FREE to others.... When we want the cost to be shared by all, we are not imitating Christ.
