I’m really uncertain as to whether I’m enjoying this or not... though I do like the fact that the subject material is one I’m passingly familiar of. Seven Against Thebes is about the two sons of Oedipus (that he had with his mother), and their battle for potentially the kingdom as a result of a curse their father cast upon them at his death... at least so far as I can tell ;D / :P

Finished the tale of The Persians - essentially a retelling of a battle (and a bit of the aftermath) between the Persians and the Greeks in which the Persians lost and are lamenting their fate and the loss of their countrymen...

So... the Persians outnumbered the Greeks, but they had the superior strategy? Seems they showed false information to the enemy, making the Persians think they would attempt to flee and thus made the Persian ships break rank to stop them... thus having the upper hand in numbers with the Persian fleet separated from backup? I think? This language is confusing.

Well that first play (the Suppliant Maidens) ended abruptly. Potentially due to lost material? I mean, apparently it’s from a trilogy but that really didn’t seem to be a definitive ending...

Okay, when I started reading this I was definitely expecting the plays to be in the form of... well plays. At the moment they all seem to be in "epic poem" form, which isn't REALLY my thing, but we'll see how it goes XD;;

“Phineus was a legendary seer, of the Argonautic era”
Pretty sure that was the guy that was in one of the Heroes of Olympus books! The blind deer that had been cursed by the gods and was tormented by... I think Harpies?

finished the suppliant maiden. The introduction says that the supplicant maidens is an early work of Aeschylus since the protagonist in this play is chorus, which is the archaic form of tragedy. But the suppliant maidens consist of 50 Danaids, then how could it not be that the chorus which is able to include more than one characters is the protagonist?
