Started out at a good pace but now the story is dragging. It seems like the love story was thrown in there at random and doesn't move the story forward at all, rather slows it down. Although I thoroughly enjoyed it in the beginning I'm getting the "I just want it to be over" feeling.

I am sorry I am halfway through. This book is excellent. This book should have been read first. I read Echoes of a Distant Summer first. LeRoi King Tremain is quite a character. He can go from being a cold blooded killer to being very kind and compassionate. I see why his family members in the second book distanced themselves from him.

So far so good! I love his writing style. Johnson paints such vivid images with his writing.

I read Echos of a Distant Summer before I knew this one existed. I love that book. This is pretty good also.
