"Being abroad gave me the tongue of a child, and it soon gave me a child's heart to match. You know that heart and tongue are made from The same flesh."

"I didn't know what a word was really worth until I traveled abroad and lost my voice. Words are invisible jewels; the only people who can see them are the ones who've lost them."

"Lies and spices are siblings. A lie can change even the blandest occurrence into a piquant dish. The truth and nothing but the truth is something only a judge wants to hear. Just like spices, lies should be used solely to add a little flavor."

Musa's story was rather confusing with too many convoluted lies.

3 stories done, 4 more to go! Tuma's situation really tugged at me - it's so annoying to not have people believe you when yoh need them to. It's nice how they slyly insert little pockets of info about the Syrian crisis of the time.

A story about how Salim the coachman loses his tongue and his 6 friends come to his rescue. I'm getting a real Arabian Night-esque feel from this book, and the first story was already so magical. Loving this book!
