really liked it
I stand by my mid-book assertion that a lot of this was genuinely, almost shockingly boring, but when it was good, it was extremely good. (And even when it was boring, the writing was still always somewhere between very solid and stunning.) I don't know that a knowledge of the mythology is necessary for investment here -- I read Bullfinch's in high school like most people my age, but am not otherwise versed -- but I imagine it would make it sligh

These books are so recklessly, unrelentingly awful I can only read them in fits and starts while mostly skimming and loudly complaining. Unfortunately, I will still read the third one because I already paid for it many months ago (on sale thank god) and because, ultimately, I hate myself.
