Dammit, dammit, dammit. This was a far weaker follow up to the first book than I would have liked. Don't get me wrong: it's YA, it's fantasy, it's supposed to be fun and fluffy. This is a history of white, Euro/Ameri-centric heteronormativity. Very little inclusion of the colonialist, racist and classicist intersections of heterosexuality, which I think a thorough consideration of the topic demands, especially if you're taking it from this geopolitical context.
