I’ve been desperate to read some Inspector Montalbano books since I caught part of one of the shows on BBC4, so I was very excited to get the first ten for Christmas!

This book disappointed a little though. The plot was interesting enough and the characters ok, but I think it is majorly let down by the translating. It feels clunky and sometimes doesn’t quite make sense. I found myself having to re-read large portions of text because of incredibly

The eighteenth in the Montalbano series and, as with its predecessors, another enjoyable and interesting read. The characters (and Vigáta) have so much life breathed into them by Camilleri it’s easy to believe they’re real.
