Another reviewer described this book as being "more suited for a magazine article." There are some lovely, interesting bits, including lavish scenes of the Cape and the Big House itself. But there is so much other crammed in between that makes it drag.

I enjoyed reading about the history of the house itself, starting from its humble beginnings of buying the plot of worthless-at-the-time land. But it's hard to get into, with an origin story that

This took me a long time to get through. Not because I was bored, but quite the opposite—there's a lot to digest, and I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. The chapters are set up like "letters," like Weigel is really writing to the reader (i.e., me). "Young" Catholic doesn't necessarily mean in age, though that's the typical audience.
