Lethal White by Robert Galbraith
Danielle’s first review of the year
really liked it
The solution to this particular whodunit was a bit sudden and beyond belief, but I like Robin and Cormoran so much as characters that I would have followed them anywhere. If you're not especially invested in the particulars of the outcome, the journey of this installment is a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Call Sign Chaos by Jim Mattis
Danielle’s last review of the year
really liked it
Mattis's memoir follows his decades-long career in the Marine Corps, from grunt to general to, eventually, Secretary of Defense. Most of the folks in the armed services, myself included, know a few things to be absolutely true about Mattis: he is a man of uncommonly high integrity; he does not mince words; he is a Marine through-and-through, committed to the ongoing lethality of the US military. With that in mind, this book contains no surprises. ...more
