The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin

Ok, it took me a week to read through this one but it was also the week between Christmas and New Years, so does that even count for anything?

I really wanted to be whisked away in The Obelisk Gate especially after such a great debut in The Fifth Season. However, the feeling I got from this book was more "hurry up and wait" as NK Jemisin explores pretty much all the questions you had when you finished the first book.

1. What happened to Nassun?

Simone’s last review of the year

Okay, I literally have no confidence in my review. This book was big and full of stuff to keep track of. I did my best, but I would strongly suggest reading a few different reviews to get a better sense of this story.

When I first started this one, there were a few things I needed to keep in mind. 1) This was NOT going to be the Grishaverse, so get that out of your head right now. 2) Keep your expectations low because despite being a well-loved
